Located in Hawthorn, the project brief was to create a lush verdant garden to surround the Victorian dwelling which will be transformed with a 4-storey rear contemporary addition, creating entirely new residences. A large south facing front setback has allowed the creation of a tranquil yet practical outdoor area for the front residence, together with an entry walkway with plantings to invigorate the senses.

 

A steel arbour has been designed above the driveway ramp that will be festooned with Boston Ivy, softening the impact of the void to the basement. The rear north facing planter boxes have high drought tolerant plant selections to ensure low maintenance and a long-term sustainable approach.
