Ben was commissioned to design a front garden that would complement the existing double fronted Victorian façade and a back garden that would be sympathetic to the contemporary renovation to the rear of the residence.
The front garden design was essentially directed by the two large established Liquidambar and American Maple trees. Ben has designed a free flowing front garden with a very large palette of plant species including woodland plantings, herbaceous perennials and ornamental grasses.
The rear garden is much more structured and pared back to blend seamlessly with the contemporary architecturally designed rear of the residence. The back garden includes: an alfresco area off the back of the house with a bluestone paved terrace, an outdoor fireplace, built-in bbq, built-in seating; peripheral screening plantings with Bamboo & pleached evergreen trees; a kitchen garden; feature contemporary outdoor sculpture; and a large area of lawn.
