Ben Scott provides a garden design service that encompasses all aspects of the design and construction process.  Please contact Ben Scott Garden Design for further information on these services and related fees.

Initial Consultation & Client Brief

The design of your garden begins with an initial meeting on site. Ben will assess the existing site conditions, understand your aesthetic and functional requirements and discuss potential design responses. Following this initial consultation, you will receive a Fee Proposal outlining the landscape design process, timeframes and associated costs. A fee is charged for this initial one hour consultation which is credited towards your landscape design fee should you proceed to engage Ben's services.

Site Analysis, Concept Design / Design Development

Upon appointment, the next step is to undertake a thorough site analysis. You may have existing architectural or survey drawings that can assist with this stage. Large or very steep sites may require a land survey to be undertaken by a qualified land surveyor. Ben will produce a landscape concept plan that illustrates the proposed layout, aesthetics and functionality of the garden. This concept is discussed in detail and is presented with relevant imagery and material samples. The concept is developed until a final design is agreed upon.

Detailed Landscape Drawings
Following completion of the concept design, detailed drawings are produced using Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software. These drawings accurately document each component of the proposed garden and  include a planting schedule, material schedule, garden lighting schedule, services schedule, construction detail drawings and written specifications.

Tendering & Project Costing

Ben can recommend experienced landscape contractors to tender on the final drawings, or alternatively, you are welcome to engage your own contractors. Following analysis of the tender submissions, Ben will meet with you to select a contractor to construct your garden. If required, the design can be adjusted at this time to further suit your budgetary requirements. At this stage, Ben will provide a quotation for plant procurement on the project, which he sources through his network of the highest quality wholesale nurseries.

Site Supervision

Ben is available to oversee the construction of your garden. This is highly recommended during the critical phases of the construction works process, ensuring the integrity and quality of the design is executed to the highest level.
